Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is happy with how Daniel Sturridge has recovered from his outing against West Ham United in midweek, with the striker not suffering a setback.

Sturridge has been plagued by injuries in recent times at Liverpool, but looked lively when he turned out against the Hammers and showed signs of linking up well with Christian Benteke in attack.

Now all eyes are on how Sturridge has responded to the game ahead of Liverpool's meeting with Aston Villa this weekend.

Asked about Sturridge at a press conference this morning, Klopp said: "He played about 70 minutes, so he had the normal recovery after training, with less minutes, he could have trained a little bit more.

"He was involved with all the players who played the full time against West Ham", Klopp continued.

"So it was good, he feels good.

"We have to think about how we can manage the minutes. He made a big step."

But Klopp has not yet considered whether Sturridge will be involved against Aston Villa, with no team yet picked by the German for the Premier League game.

"I've made no decision with the starting line-up, but up until now it is all as it should be."

A fully fit Sturridge would no doubt provide Liverpool with a big boost heading into the last stretch of the season, especially with the Reds having the League Cup final against Manchester City on the horizon.
