Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has heaped praise on defender Kevin Wimmer for the way the Austrian has adapted to his new club and team-mates.

Spurs snapped up the 23-year-old defender from 1.FC Koln last summer, but other than a few appearances in cup competitions, Wimmer struggled to break into the Tottenham first eleven in his first few months in north London.




However, after impressing in a 15-minute cameo against Crystal Palace in the Premier League last month, the defender has played the full 90 minutes in Tottenham’s last two league outings and has earned widespread praise for his performances.

Pochettino is pleased to see the 23-year-old perform in the first team and indicated the club have faith in the young defender, who he feels has done well to settle down quickly in the Spurs team.
 


The Tottenham boss told Spurs TV while answering a fan’s question on Wimmer: “I am very pleased with him.

“He is still very young and I think his adaptation has been fantastic for the club and the team.

“We believe in him and trust him.”

Wimmer has made just nine appearances for Spurs this season and has a contract until 2020 with the club.
