Leeds United assistant manager Paul Raynor has insisted that the players have tried hard to get over their disappointing loss to Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Despite dominating possession, Steve Evans’ side suffered a demoralising 1-0 defeat to Forest at Elland Road last Saturday, and dropped down to 16th in the Championship table as a result.

With their top six hopes more or less biting the dust last weekend, the Whites are looking to finish the season strongly and get as close to the top ten with a run of results in the second half of their campaign.

While Raynor insisted that the mood is not exactly sombre inside the Leeds camp, he admits that the players were disappointed with the manner of their defeat and not the performance itself, which he indicated was not bad.

He stressed that the club have been working hard over the past week to get over their disappointment and prepare for Middlesbrough’s trip to Elland Road on Monday night.

When asked about the mood inside the Leeds camp, Raynor said in a press conference yesterday: “The mood is pretty good.

“Obviously nobody is cock-a-hoop at the moment. Everybody reacts to results and it was a real disappointment, not particularly with the performance against Forest, but with the result and the manner of it.

“We don’t take defeat easily. You have to dust yourself down and get on with the job, and that’s what we tried to do this week.”

Leeds have just won once in their last eight league fixtures, and will be looking to turn their form around against Middlesbrough, who are at the top of the Championship table.
