Nir Bitton has insisted that it is normal for big teams to endure tough times in a season, with the Celtic midfield enforcer adding that even clubs in the stature of Chelsea and Real Madrid do not win every match.

The Hoops, who beat East Kilbride 2-0 in a Scottish Cup game last weekend, endured a mini slump lately where they lost two consecutive games in all competitions.

Celtic’s hopes of a domestic treble were ended after losing 3-1 to Ross County in a League Cup semi-final on 31st January, with the Scottish champions going down 2-1 in a top of the table clash with Aberdeen just three days later.

However, Bitton, who has scored eight goals in 34 appearances in all competitions for Celtic in the present campaign, feels it is not surprising for big clubs to hit rough patches during the course of a season, as he went on to take the examples of Chelsea and Real Madrid in this regard.

“When you look at the biggest teams in the world, they all have tough times”, he told a press conference, when asked about Celtic’s slump.
