Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has indicated that the team are in a confident mood ahead of their weekend trip to Manchester City.

Spurs are currently second in the league table, a point ahead of fourth placed Manchester City and Mauricio Pochettino’s men are currently on a five-game winning streak in the league, which has helped them to surge up the table.

Champions League qualification was believed to be their aim at the start of the season, but many feel Spurs are now credible title challengers because of the solid form they have displayed over the course of the last few months.

However, the north London’s side’s title credentials are expected to be put under severe pressure when on Sunday they travel to Manchester City, who are desperate to get a win after their loss to Leicester City last weekend.

Trippier admits that Sunday’s game is a big occasion in context of a title challenge, but insisted that Tottenham are confident that they have the ability to get a result out of their visit to the Etihad.

The defender told the club’s official website: “Every game is a big game for us but obviously to the outside world Manchester City against Tottenham is a huge match, so we’ll go there full of confidence and belief, do what we’ve been doing and try to get the result.

“It’s going to be a tough test for us at City this weekend, they’ve got some very good players, but we just need to focus on ourselves.”

He revealed that the mood inside the Spurs camp has been upbeat because of their recent form, and the boys are keen to continue on their good run with a win over the Citizens on Valentine’s Day.

“It’s been brilliant in training this week, everyone’s been buzzing just like usual.

“We’re on a good run at the moment, we’ve had six games without defeat now so hopefully that can continue.”
