Former Tottenham Hotspur skipper Ledley King feels the Premier League title race will have to go down to the wire if Spurs are to win the competition.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who are currently second in the Premier League with 48 points from 25 games, five adrift of leaders Leicester City, will face fourth-placed Manchester City in a vital clash tomorrow.

Tottenham have been very consistent in the ongoing campaign, having lost just three league games, the second-lowest in the division behind Leicester.

The north London outfit last won the league title in the 1960/61 campaign, with Spurs’ last trophy coming in the form of a League Cup in the 2007/08 season.

And King, who admitted that Tottenham were not expecting to challenge for the Premier League title at the start of the season, acknowledged that it has been some time since his former team won silverware.

“It has been a while since we last won something.

“But I think this season will go right down to the wire if Spurs are to win the league.”
