Alloa Athletic boss Jack Ross insists his side deserved to claim a draw at home against Rangers this afternoon.

Ross watched his bottom of the table side keep Rangers at bay throughout the first half, with goalkeeper Scott Gallacher in superb form to deny the visitors.

And then in the second half, Jason Marr connected with a corner to head Alloa into the lead in the 61st minute.

Alloa then worked hard to try to hold on to their advantage, though Rangers had a series of opportunities.

The Gers did eventually draw level in the 83rd minute as new signing Michael O'Halloran scored, while James Tavernier had a late header tipped over by Gallacher, as Ross' men clung on for a share of the spoils.

And he feels that due to the amount of hard work Alloa put in, they fully deserved their point from the match.

"We were under no illusions that to get anything from the game, we had to work very hard", Ross said on BBC Radio Scotland.

"Rangers missed a couple of early opportunities and that gave us something to build on.

"Given the number of chances they had, they would say they had just cause to get an equaliser.

"But for all our hard work, I thought we deserved the point.

"There is a growing confidence that we can climb the table", Ross added.
