Leeds United legend Eddie Gray thinks that Middlesbrough are struggling at present and the Whites have a chance of putting them to the sword on Monday night at Elland Road.

Despite being second in the Championship table, Middlesbrough have not won in their last four games, drawing two and losing two, and are stuttering as the season enters a vital phase.

Boro's last win was a month ago and Gray believes that Aitor Karanka's men are not playing the same style of football as earlier in the campaign.

And as such, Leeds should hold some confidence, even though they are a lowly 16th in the table, Gray thinks.

"I think they are struggling", Gray said on LUTV, previewing the match.

"They are obviously not playing as well or with the free-flowing football they were playing four or five weeks ago.

"Now we're on the run-in and they just might be feeling the nerves a little bit.

"They have got Jordan Rhodes in and he's going to be vital I think."

The Leeds legend also pointed to the Whites' previous meetings with Boro as further cause to be optimistic when Karanka's men roll into town on Monday evening.

"I think we've got a good opportunity on Monday.

"You can't say with the way our home form has gone that we can go into the game with a great deal of confidence, but you look at their form and previous history between the clubs and I just think it suits our players to go in as the underdogs", he added.
