Celtic new boy Patrick Roberts has explained that he is hoping to feature against Inverness CT in a Scottish Premiership fixture at the weekend.

The striker, who joined the Hoops on an 18-month loan deal from Manchester City during the winter transfer window, is yet to make his Celtic first team debut, despite impressing and scoring for the club’s development squad.

Roberts clocked up 54 minutes over three appearances in all competitions for Manchester City this season, in addition to playing six games for the Citizens in the Under-21 Premier League and the UEFA Youth League combined.

And the forward, who insisted that the decision about his involvement against Inverness rests solely with manager Ronny Deila, however, vowed to give his all in training.

“Yes, I hope to”, Roberts told Celtic TV, when asked if he would like to feature against Inverness at the weekend.

“Well, it’s not up to me, I’ll do my best on the training pitch.

“And it’s up to the manager what he does at the weekend.”
