Manchester United have reached a gentleman's agreement with Benfica over signing exciting youngster Renato Sanches, according to Portuguese daily Record.

Sanches has been chased by a number of top European clubs this season on the back of his fine performances for Benfica, a group which includes Real Madrid.




But Los Blancos are set to be left disappointed as Manchester United have a gentleman's agreement with Benfica's president to snap up Sanches.

The exact amount that the Red Devils will splash out to snap up the talent is not yet clear, but Sanches appears to be on his way to Old Trafford.
 


The 18-year-old is a product of Benfica's youth system and turned out for the club's B team last term.

This term the midfielder has been firmly involved with Benfica's first team and has impressed.

Sanches has made 16 appearances in the Portuguese top flight, scoring twice and providing a single assist.

The Portuguese has also turned out for Benfica in the Champions League and the UEFA Youth League.
