Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta is expected to give his response to Manchester United’s offer to become their director of football before the end of the month.

It has been suggested that Manchester United are looking to ease some of the burden on executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and appoint a director of football to oversee transfer and contract negotiations.




Manchester United are reported to have a gentleman’s agreement with Jose Mourinho, and the Portuguese is expected to become their manager at the end of the season, replacing Louis van Gaal.

And it has been claimed that the club are looking to pair the former Chelsea boss with Atletico Madrid technical director Berta, as they look to build a solid football partnership that can build a strong team for the future.
 


The club have already contacted the Spaniard about the proposed role and according to Sky Italia, Berta is expected to give his response to the English giants by Easter.

Berta and Mourinho share a good personal relationship, and are represented by the same agent, Jorge Mendes.

It has also been claimed that the former Real Madrid boss is touring Europe at the moment and is identifying players who he would like to sign once he becomes Manchester United boss in the summer.
