Leeds United head coach Steve Evans believes Liam Bridcutt knows how highly he rates him, with the Whites boss eyeing keeping the midfielder on at Elland Road beyond the end of the season.

Bridcutt became Evans' first signing as Leeds boss when he joined the club on loan from Sunderland in November, a deal which was subsequently extended until the end of the season in the winter transfer window.

The midfielder slipped out of the picture at Sunderland, but has made an impact at Leeds and has a firm fan in Evans.

"I think Liam's very aware of what I think of him", Evans was quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"He's very aware of what this football club thinks of him. And the one thing I'm very aware of is that Liam loves playing for Leeds United. He never hides that", Evans continued.

"Liam's a top quality player, he leads by example in his determination to win a game."

While Leeds may be hopeful of a deal to keep Bridcutt on a permanent basis, if Sunderland slide down to the Championship the Black Cats may reassess the situation given the midfielder's experience of the division.

The Black Cats currently sit just one spot above the drop zone in the Premier League, keeping their head above 18th placed Norwich City by virtue of goal difference.
