Leeds United star Lewis Cook has explained that the England Under-19 players are keen to follow in the footsteps of Dele Alli by breaking into the senior national team.

Alli, who joined Tottenham Hotspur from MK Dons in February 2015, was sent back to the then League One outfit on loan for the rest of the season as part of the deal.

The 19-year-old has been a revelation for Spurs in the current campaign, with the starlet scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists in 40 appearance in all competitions for the north London outfit.

Alli represented England at Under-19 level in 2014 before making the step up to the Under-21s the following year; the midfielder went on to make his senior international debut in 2015, and has since netted once in four games for the Three Lions.

And Cook, who has recently been called up by the England Under-19s, insisted that he along with his international team-mates are keen to take a leaf out of Alli’s book.

“Everyone is looking up to Dele Alli, he has done really good”, he said on LUTV.

“We want to replicate that as a young player. He’s someone we’ll try and be like.

“He has made that jump and obviously he’s very comfortable there. So we know it’s possible.”

Cook has scored twice and provided as many assists in 37 appearances for Leeds this season.
