Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has apologised for his outburst towards a doctor during his side’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland last weekend.

The Serbian, who has struggled to settle down at Newcastle following his summer move to the club, scored the crucial equaliser in the 83rd minute in the Tyne-Wear derby on Sunday to earn a point for his side.

However, he received a blow to his head after scoring the goal, and was being treated on the sidelines, when in a hurry to return to the pitch soon, he blasted the Newcastle doctor.

Mitrovic has revealed that he has apologised to the doctor, and was not aware of the rules concerning head injuries, when the player is bound to leave the playing field for further check-ups.

The striker was quoted as saying by So Foot: “I did not know the procedure.

“I did not know the rules; I apologised to the doctor after the game because I knew I had to leave the pitch after receiving the shock to my head.”

Mitrovic has scored just six Premier League goals this season, and the Magpies will be hoping that he keeps his calm, and helps the team to keep their Premier League status this term.
