Celtic star Scott Brown has thanked Scotland boss Gordon Strachan for shaping his career over the years.

The 30-year-old, who is set to earn his 50th international cap when Scotland take on Denmark in a friendly at Hampden later in the day, was signed by Strachan from Hibernian in 2007, whilst he was in charge of Celtic.

Strachan then named Brown as Scotland’s captain after he was appointed as the national team manager in January 2013.

And Brown, who admitted that Strachan has had a huge influence on his career, insisted that the 59-year-old understands the game better than anyone he has ever worked with.

"He’s put a lot of faith in me and I have a lot to thank him for over my career, from signing me to making me the player I am”, Brown was quoted as saying by STV.

"He’s had a huge influence. His training methods and the way he understands the game, it’s not that you play the same way week in and week out, you’ve got to realise who you are playing against.

"He shapes up different ways to try and get us on the ball and make us a better team, depending on what formation they’re playing he’ll change things.

"That’s the kind of manager he is, he looks into detail at other teams.

"That’s what makes him the man he is and he understands the game way more than anyone else I’ve ever worked with."

Brown has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Celtic in the present campaign, scoring once and providing two assists, while in total he has turned out 349 times for the Scottish champions, netting 34 times and setting up 52 goals.

He has also found the back of the net four times on the international front.
