Wolfsburg are set to make a decision on ex-Arsenal man Nicklas Bendtner’s future at the club, with a contract termination on the cards, after the striker was banished from first team training following disciplinary issues.

The Bundesliga outfit signed the former Arsenal striker in the summer of 2014 on a free transfer, but the Dane has not been a first choice forward for the Wolves, struggling to make an impact.

He has made just four league starts for the club this term, bagging just two goals, and has been left frustrated by the amount of minutes he is getting on the pitch at the Volkswagen Arena.

This has led to tensions between the forward and coach Dieter Hecking, and the Wolfsburg boss banished the player from first team training earlier this month for disciplinary issues.

Klaus Allofs, the club’s sporting director, admits that the  situation cannot be allowed to fester for too long, and revealed they are looking at possible solutions to emerge from the current impasse.

Allofs said in a statement: "The current situation is dissatisfying for everyone and can't continue on a permanent basis.

“For that reason we sat down again on Wednesday with our advisers and discussed possible solutions.”

A club statement, issues with Allof's comments, read: “A decision with regard to the future of the Danish striker, who has been training on his own lately, will promptly be made.”

Bendtner has scored just nine times in 47 appearances for Wolfsburg since joining the club in 2014.
