Guus Hiddink has hinted that he may play Alexandre Pato against Aston Villa this weekend, with the Chelsea boss insisting that he is eyeing experimenting with his squad for the remainder of the season.

Pato, who joined Chelsea from Corinthians on a loan deal until the end of the season during the winter transfer window, is yet to play a game for the Premier League champions.

Chelsea have very little left to play for in the current campaign; the Blues, who are currently 10th in the Premier League, were knocked out of the FA Cup and the Champions League before the international break.

And Hiddink explained that with just eight league games remaining in the season, he is open to handing out minutes to squad players including Pato.

“Will he be actively involved? We will see tomorrow”, he said in his pre-match press conference.

“We have now eight games coming up, but there isn’t much to play for so it might be time for experiments.

“He has worked very hard in the international break. I have tried to make a fair judgement and give others knocking on the door, like [Bertrand] Traore, a fair opportunity as well.”

Chelsea, who headed into the international break on the back of a 2-2 draw with West Ham United, currently have 41 points from 30 games.
