Hoffenheim assistant boss Alfred Schreuder believes that FC Twente talent Hakim Ziyech is already just as good as Nacer Chadli and Dusan Tadic were, and possibly even better.

Schreuder worked at FC Twente as an assistant, while he also had a spell as interim boss. And at the Dutch club he saw Tottenham Hotspur winger Chadli and Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic at close quarters, working with both.

The Dutchman keeps an eye on his former club and has been struck by Morocco international Ziyech's progress. Schreuder is excited about what the 23-year-old midfielder can achieve in the game.

Comparisons have been drawn between Ziyech and legends such as Johan Cruyff and Zinedine Zidane – but Schreuder thinks it is too soon to know whether he can hit that level.

"Hakim can reach the very top, but whether he can be an absolute top player such as those players mentioned, we have to wait and see", the Hoffenheim assistant told Dutch daily Metro.

"He is at least the level of Nacer Chadli and Dusan Tadic and now look where those guys play.

"I even think Hakim is better. Hakim established himself immediately, while Nacer and Dusan needed a year to get used to Twente.

"He only has to work on his physical game, if he plays in a more physical league, that goes almost without saying."

In the current campaign, Ziyech has scored an impressive 17 goals in 29 Eredivisie matches, along with providing 13 assists for his team-mates.
