Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has revealed a conversation with Luke Murphy following the Whites' 1-0 loss at Burnley on Saturday.

Evans watched his side concede to the Championship league leaders with just 60 seconds on the clock at Turf Moor as the visitors were caught cold early on.

Leeds grew into the game and from the beginning of the second half began to dominate. Striker Chris Wood missed two golden opportunities for the Yorkshire giants, who ended the game with more possession than Sean Dyche's men and having had an astonishing nine corners.

Evans says that Murphy came over to him in disbelief after the game, checking with the Scot that what he thought he had been part of in the second 45 minutes was right.

The Leeds boss explained on BBC Radio Leeds after the match: "When I shook hands with the players Luke Murphy said to me 'gaffer, have I got this wrong or have we just battered Burnley in that second half?'

"I said, 'no, you got it right son'", Evans added.

Despite a good performance at Turf Moor, Leeds have still managed to take just a single point from their last four Championship games and Evans' target of a top ten finish is vastly becoming a pipe dream.

The Whites, who sit 15th in the table, are eight points off tenth placed Preston North End.

Leeds are next in action on Tuesday night away at Birmingham City.
