Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva believes the current Gunners side are lacking two players.

The Gunners have suffered a collapse in the second half of the campaign, exiting the Champions League and the FA Cup, while they have fallen off the pace in the race for the Premier League title and now widely considered to only have an outside chance of claiming the silverware.

For Arsenal the situation became worse at the weekend with a 3-3 draw away at West Ham which allowed second placed Tottenham Hotspur and leaders Leicester City to increase the gap.

Silva, who was part of Arsenal's last Premier League title winning side in 2004, feels the Gunners need another player at the back and one in midfield, with both needing to be able to stand the pressure.

"They miss a few players", the Brazilian told Inside Futbol, when asked if the Gunners need someone like Patrick Vieira, a leader.

"At least one player at the back and one in the middle to hold the midfield and play under pressure.

"Arsenal need to work very hard and be mentally strong to deal with the pressure."

Silva however feels that despite disappointing results, Arsenal must always continue to look to the future, rather than dwelling on the past.

"You can't worry about what went wrong in the last game. You have to look forward. There is no other way."

The Gunners brought in no outfield players during the last summer transfer window, becoming the only club in Europe's top five leagues not to add an outfield player to their ranks.

Arsenal paid the price through the season as a now traditional injury crisis struck to deprive the side of many of their stars at crucial times.
