Former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva believes Philippe Coutinho’s success at Liverpool will open the door for more Brazilian players to English football.

After an indifferent start to the season, Coutinho has really come into his own in recent months for Liverpool and has been crucial for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp looks to finish the season on a high.

Joining Liverpool from Inter Milan in 2013, Coutinho has developed into a top class performer at Anfield, and has 10 goals and five assists to his name in all competitions this season.

Silva is a fan of his countryman and is pleased to see the way the playmaker has quickly adapted to the pace of the Premier League. He feels players such as Coutinho will open up more opportunities for other Brazilians in English football.

Speaking to Inside Futbol, the former midfielder said: “Coutinho has very good abilities and qualities.
