The draw for the semi-finals of the Champions League took place this morning and confirmed the last two ties prior to the final at the San Siro in Milan, Italy, on 28th May.

For Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City, who beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 on aggregate, it will be their first ever, long-awaited spot in a European cup semi-final and they have been paired with Real Madrid while Atletico Madrid will face Bayern Munich.

The Premier League outfit had drawn 2-2 with PSG in the first leg, but saw Kevin De Bruyne score a late winner in the 76th minute to put the team through to the next stage of the competition.

Real Madrid meanwhile thrashed Bundesliga side Wolfsburg 3-0 thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick after suffering a surprise 2-0 defeat in the first leg and Zinedine Zidane's men will be eager to grab their second Champions League trophy in just three years.

Their city rivals, Atletico Madrid, booked their place in another unexpected win over title holders and favourites Barcelona on Wednesday, with Antoine Griezmann netting both goals in their 2-0 triumph.

The final semi-finalist, Bayern Munich, saw off Portuguese side Benfica over two legs, winning 3-2 on aggregate, and will enter the semi-finals for the fifth time in a row.
