Steve Evans has insisted that the future of the players on loan at Elland Road is not in his hands and stressed that the only their parent clubs will decide whether they will return to Leeds United for next season.

Liam Bridcutt and Mustapha Carayol, on loan from Sunderland and Middlesbrough respectively, have played a key role for Leeds since joining the club, and have become crucial members of Evans’ squad.

While Tom Adeyemi, who joined from Cardiff on loan last summer, has not been a big part of Evans’ plans in recent months, the midfielder is still a useful squad member at Elland Road.

Evans insisted that only the respective parent club will decide whether any of the loan players will return to Elland Road for next season and Leeds can only act once they get the green light from the respective clubs.

The Scot was quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Evening Post: “First and foremost, it is the decision of the parent club and player.

“It would be disrespectful to talk about Liam Bridcutt’s future if Sam Allardyce hasn’t discussed it before.

"I think they are three gifted players and have something to bring to the squad and party. But those decisions, one hundred million per cent, are with Russell [Slade] at Cardiff, Aitor Karanka and Big Sam.

“We will let those coaches be the first factors of when they speak to those players and then we will come into it, if we decide they are part of our future.”

If he remains Leeds head coach, Evans has plans to build a squad in the summer which will be able to challenge for promotion to the Premier League next season.
