Steve Evans has insisted that although it is flattering to be linked with the Celtic job, he is fully focused on Leeds United.

The Scottish champions are in search of a new manager after it was announced yesterday that present boss Ronny Deila will step down from his post after the end of the season.

David Moyes, Roy Keane, Owen Coyle, Neil Lennon and Evans amongst others have all been mooted as possible successors to Deila.

Evans’ position at Leeds is also not secure despite the Whites avoiding relegation and battling for a top ten finish due to the whims of owner Massimo Cellino.

But Evans, who is a staunch supporter of the Scottish giants, played down being linked with the Celtic job by claiming that Leeds remains his focus.

“It's flattering for any coach to be linked, but my only focus is on representing this famous badge”, the Scot said in a press conference this morning.

Celtic is an iconic club, but Leeds United is an iconic club.

"My only focus is on here.”

Leeds, who will next face Hull City at the weekend, are currently 11th in the standings with 57 points from 43 games.
