Young Belgium defender Keith Groeneveld is having a trial at Manchester United, according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.

The teenager, who currently plays for the KV Mechelen Under-17 team, is however, yet to make a first team appearance for the Belgian Pro League outfit.

The 16-year-old previously trained with Manchester United a few years ago when he was at Royal Antwerp, with the clubs being in a partnership at that point in time.

It is believed that the Red Devils, who appointed former player Nicky Butt as the club’s head of the academy in February, are focused on bringing talented youngsters to Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s continued attention to youth development has been paying dividends as the club won the Under-21 Premier League for the third season running earlier in the week.
