Arsenal loanee Wojciech Szczesny has expressed his desire to make his stay at Roma permanent and revealed the two clubs are already in talks over a deal.

The 26-year-old joined the Italian giants on season-long loan last summer and has played an instrumental role in helping his side stay within a top three Champions League spot in Serie A.

In fact the goalkeeper has managed to keep a total of eight clean sheets for his team in 39 matches he has turned out in for Roma.

The Polish international therefore hopes that he can make his move to Stadio Olimpico permanent.

Szczesny will also be mindful of the fact that a return to the Emirates would mean that he falls down the pecking order with both Petr Cech and David Ospina being present.

In an interview with Italian daily Il Messaggero, Szczesny said: "I want to stay.

"It's not all up to me, obviously.

"I want it to happen, and I know Roma and Arsenal are talking about it, so we'll see what happens.

"I'm happy to have helped the team and winning the title must be the next objective for this club."

Szczesny, who arrived in London as a youngster from Legia Warsaw, has managed a total of 181 appearances for the Gunners during the course of his stay with 72 clean sheets.
