Roma could make an approach to sign Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini during the summer transfer window, according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport.

Despite reservations about his ability from some sections of the Old Trafford faithful, the tall midfielder has remained an important part of Louis van Gaal’s squad, and played a starring role in their FA Cup semi-final win over Everton last Saturday.

However, Van Gaal is tipped to leave the club at the end of the season and Jose Mourinho is widely expected to join as the Dutchman’s replacement, which puts Fellaini’s future at Old Trafford under the scanner.

Mourinho, if he joins Manchester United, is expected to sign his own set of players and many feel Fellaini might not be part of the Portuguese’s plans, which has led to speculation surrounding the Belgian’s future.

Roma are expected to make midfield reinforcements in the summer and it has been suggested that the club could make a move for the Manchester United midfielder.

Fellaini was present for the match between Roma and Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico last night and while there is no negotiation between Manchester United and the Giallorossi, the midfielder’s presence in the Italian capital has given rise to speculation about a summer move.
