Leeds United could outbid a Bundesliga club in order to snap up Paderborn captain Marvin Bakalorz.

The 26-year-old midfielder is expected to move on from Paderborn in the summer transfer window and already has an agreement with Bundesliga side Hannover.

However, the Bundesliga club could be beaten to the punch for Bakalorz, who has a €1m release clause in his contract at Paderborn.

Indeed, according to German daily Bild, Leeds are showing serious interest in the midfielder and would be able to pay him significantly more than Hannover can afford.

As such, if the Whites firm up their interest in Bakalorz, Hannover look to have little chance of winning the financial battle, meaning they would need the midfielder to snub a superior offer from England to stay put in Germany.

Hannover currently sit bottom of the Bundesliga table with just 22 points from 31 games.

Bakalorz came through the youth ranks at Preussen Munster, but moved on to turn out for Borussia Dortmund's second string.

He also counts Eintracht Frankfurt amongst his former clubs; Bakalorz moved to Paderborn in 2014.
