Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that defender Mats Hummels wants to join Bayern Munich in the summer.

Hummels is out of contract in the summer of 2017 and has been pondering over his long term future at the Ruhr giants.

And Hummels, a former Bayern Munich player, has confirmed that he wishes to head back to the Bavarians. Dortmund though insist Bayern Munich have not yet made an official offer for the centre-back and he will not be sold for lower than the going rate.

"Defender Mats Hummels has told Borussia Dortmund he wants to leave the club in the summer and join league rivals Bayern Munich for next season", Dortmund announced in a statement.

"Borussia Dortmund's board has subsequently decided to make such a transfer dependent on whether Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund can agree a satisfactory fee", the statement continued.
