Liverpool striker Divock Origi will not require surgery on his damaged ankle ligaments, according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.

The Belgian international picked up the injury when Everton’s Ramiro Funes Mori levelled him with a heavy challenge during last week’s Merseyside derby.

Initial tests suggested that Origi, who had to leave Anfield on a stretcher, will be out of action for four to six weeks, meaning his season is over.

It was also claimed that the 21-year-old could miss the European Championship in France if he had to go under the knife.

But the doctors decided against the striker undergoing surgery, and Origi is expected to be fit before the continental competition.
