Simon Makienok's agent has admitted he is hunting for a new club for the striker, after revealing he does not believe his client will return to Palermo following his loan at Charlton Athletic.

The tall striker joined the London outfit on a season-long loan deal last summer, but has been unable to help the club avoid relegation from the Championship into League One.

He will not be sticking around at the Valley, while a return to Palermo is also not on the agenda, leaving his agent searching for an alternative option for his client.

Makienok's agent Michael Steensgaard told Danish outlet Bold: "The plan is that we must find a new club for Simon.

"He still has a contract with Palermo which we must respect. However, there is nothing to suggest that he should go back there. We are at a stage now where we explore his options", the agent added.

The six foot seven inch striker has scored five goals in 35 games this season and the Dane's agent feels his client has done well enough to ensure there will be clubs looking to snap him up.

"It has been a very difficult time for the club with the coach sacking and relegation. Seen in this light, Makienok has been an okay success if you measure goals per minute.

"And it's normally easier to find a good club when you have played. We will scan the market and it seems Simon could be abroad", Steensgaard added.

Charlton are second bottom of the Championship following a disastrous campaign which has seen the side collect just 37 points from 44 games.

They are next in action this coming weekend away at 12th placed Leeds United
