Rangers legend Willie Henderson has heaped praise on Gers manager Mark Warburton for managing to bring the best out of his charges.

Warburton, who took charge of Rangers at the start of the season, has already guided the club to the Scottish Championship title and the Challenge Cup.

In addition, he also helped Rangers to reach the Scottish Cup final by beating their arch-rivals Celtic on penalties in the semi-final earlier in the month.

And Henderson, who admitted that Rangers have been an exciting team to watch in the present campaign, made special mention of the Ibrox outfit’s first half display against the Scottish champions in the Old Firm derby.

The former winger went on to add that he has been so impressed with Warburton he would have loved to have played under the Englishman.

“I would have loved working with Mark Warburton”, Henderson told the club’s official site.

“Why? He is an honest type of person, he’s very professional, he wants the best out of players. What else do you want in a manager?

“He’s worked in the City so he’s had a lot of experience there, he will have had a lot of experience dealing with people and he can get the best out of them.

“That’s what he is doing at Rangers and he’s getting every ounce out of the players which is why the club has won the Championship title, the Petrofac Cup and we still have a Scottish Cup final to look forward to.

“So it’s been a breath of fresh air, absolutely brilliant, and that performance in the first half against Celtic was top class – Rangers have played really well this year and it’s been exciting to watch.

“The supporters have followed our club for the past four years in the lower leagues but this last year has been by far the best.

“However, nobody will know more than the manager that there is a lot of work to be done when the club moves up into the next division next season.”

Rangers, who will return to the top flight for the first time in four years, will face Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden on 21st May.
