Germany legend Lothar Matthaus feels if things go according to plan Jurgen Klopp has the ability to turn Liverpool into Premier League title contenders next season.
Klopp has done a good job in turning around Liverpool’s season since arriving at the club in October and have guided them into the Europa League semi-finals, where they are 1-0 down after the first leg against Villarreal.
However, Liverpool’s domestic form has remained inconsistent, and the German is struggling to help the Reds to finish in the European qualifications spots in the league table this season.
However, former Bayern Munich man Matthaus is confident that if Klopp can sign a quality player or two, and can make his team play according to his vision, Liverpool could be title contenders next season.
The Germany legend told German broadcaster Sport1: “If the players better understand and implement his vision of football and he gets new players, he has a good chance to go for the Premier League title with Liverpool next season.”

Matthaus also revealed that he always had immense respect for Klopp as a coach, as he knows how to motivate his players to give their all on the pitch when needed.
“I have liked and respected him since beginning of his coaching days.
“He is a great motivator and easily understands how to drive a player.”
