Benfica coach Rui Vitoria has insisted that the future of Manchester United target Renato Sanches rests with the club president Luis Filipe Vieira.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for months, and it seems the transfer is drawing closer as Benfica president Vieira was reportedly in England this week to close out the deal.

And it has been suggested that both clubs are close to reaching an agreement that will see Sanches wearing the Manchester United colours next season at Old Trafford.

Despite all the rumours, Benfica coach Vitoria is not too concerned about the future of Sanches at the club as he insisted that the decision to sell the midfielder is not for him to make, and it is the president who will take the final call.

The Benfica coach was quoted as saying by Portuguese daily A Bola: “It is an issue that frankly doesn’t concern me.

“If Renato has to leave at the end of the season, it’s a question that needs to be placed before Luis Filipe Vieira, because it is the president who defines the structure of club and the squad.

“What I can say that Renato has passed all the tests with distinction at Benfica.”

It has been suggested that Manchester United will be paying a fee of around €60m to secure the signature of the 18-year-old midfielder from Benfica.
