Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts is thrilled Mauricio Pochettino is extending his contract as the club's boss and dubbed the Argentine "magic".

Pochettino has led Spurs to a genuine title challenge in the Premier League this season and the Argentine's work has not gone unnoticed, with him being linked with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

But he is keen to show his commitment to Spurs and today announced he has verbally agreed to extend his contract at White Hart Lane by a further two years, through to the summer of 2021.

For Roberts, who turned out in defence for Spurs from 1980 until 1986, the news is fantastic and he is thrilled Pochettino is remaining in north London.

The 56-year-old took to Twitter to write: "Great news, Mauricio Pochettino new deal, fantastic for the club."

And Roberts, who won two FA Cups and one UEFA Cup with Spurs, added: "He is magic you know!!!!!"

Pochettino's Spurs look likely to come up short in the title chase this season, with a gap of seven points to make up to leaders Leicester City and only three games to do it in.

However, the White Hart Lane outfit are poised to be in the Champions League next term.
