Bundesliga outfit Hamburg are interested in signing Real Madrid starlet Martin Odegaard on a loan deal during the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid signed the then 16-year-old midfielder, who was much sought after across Europe, in January last year and his move to the Santiago Bernabeu received a lot of attention from all over the world as Odegaard is considered one of the finest talents to come out of Norway in recent years.

He also made his senior debut for the club under Carlo Ancelotti last season, but since last summer it has all been downhill for the young midfielder. He failed to get into the good books of Rafael Benitez and even after the Spaniard left, the 17-year-old has struggled to get into the first team squad.

He was linked with a loan move to Celtic last summer and there was also talk of him leaving in January, but Real Madrid have so far resisted the opportunities; Hamburg are confident that they can change their minds.

According to German magazine Kicker, Hamburg officials were in Madrid this week to discuss a deal that would see Odegaard move to the Bundesliga outfit on loan during the summer transfer window.
