Leeds United head coach Steve Evans believes winger Jordan Botaka has done everything needed to force his way back into the first team set-up.

Former Leeds boss Uwe Rosler signed the winger from Eredivisie outfit SBV Excelsior last summer, but under the tutelage of Evans the Congolese saw his stock fall rapidly and the winger was relegated to appearing for the Under-21 side.

However, the 22-year-old fought his way back into the team in recent weeks and has made an impact in two substitute appearances against Wolves and Hull City, respectively, for the Whites.

And Evans believes the winger has done everything needed to force his way back into his plans for the first team towards the end of the season.

While answering a question on Botaka, the Leeds boss said in a press conference: “His contribution against Wolves was excellent and that got him early introduced at Hull at half-time.

“If you take away the goal [against Hull], you have to look at how hard he worked for the team, how his control of the ball was, did he keep possession and Jordan ticked a lot of those boxes.

“And I have to honest and say that he has trained particularly well this week.”

Botaka will be looking to make his presence felt again in the last two games to prove that he is good enough to continue at Elland Road next season.
