Former Leeds United star Andy Ritchie feels Charlie Taylor has got a good future ahead of him, following the defender’s impressive performances this season.

The 22-year-old, who is a product of Leeds’ youth academy, has made 41 appearances in all competitions for the club this season, scoring once and providing six assists.

At the age of 17, Taylor made his senior debut for the Whites in 2011; the left-back has also spent loan spells at Bradford City, York City, Inverness CT and Fleetwood Town to put further first team experience under his belt.

And Ritchie, who insisted that he likes Taylor’s speed and strength, has backed the youngster to have a successful future provided he keeps on progressing.

“I like Charlie; he’s quick, strong and gets forward and is left-footed as well, which always helps”, he wrote in his column in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Clubs are always looking for good left-footed players.

“He has got a good future ahead of him and has been consistent and seems to have that hunger and hopefully he will keep on that level of progress and if he does, then the future is very bright for him.”

Taylor, whose present contract with Leeds runs until the summer of 2017, has thus far amassed 70 appearances for the Yorkshire giants, netting three times and setting up eight goals.

He has also represented England up to Under-19 level.
