Steve Evans believes he may need half a new team if he is to guide Leeds United up towards the top of the Championship next season.

The Whites head coach is waiting to find out whether he will be kept on into next term, but already has a clear idea in his mind over what will be needed to do what club owner Massimo Cellino wants, to aim for a playoff spot.

Cellino has promised a partial refund on season tickets if Leeds do not at least finish in the playoff places and whoever is head coach will be under pressure to deliver.

And Evans, who saw Leeds lose 2-1 at home to Charlton Athletic today, feels up to six players may need to be signed in order to have the Whites competing.

"Your players at the top end of the division have a mentality and my opinion is we need to add five or six quality players to the group", Evans said on BBC Radio Leeds, following the game.

Evans has only been able to bring in three players since taking over as Leeds boss in October, when he was appointed to succeed Uwe Rosler.

The Scot signed Liam Bridcutt on loan from Sunderland, Mustapha Carayol on loan from Middlesbrough, while he also completed the permanent capture of Toumani Diagouraga from Brentford.

Leeds finish their season next weekend away at Preston North End.
