Mark Warburton has revealed that besides Matthew Knox, Rangers are also looking to rope in several other youngsters in the summer.

Knox, who has been linked with Manchester United, is a product of Livingston’s youth academy and made his senior competitive debut for the club on Boxing Day when he came on as a late substitute in their 4-1 win over St. Mirren in a Scottish Championship game.

The 16-year-old striker had a trial at Rangers last month, while he also trained with Manchester United earlier in the month.

And Warburton, who explained that signing youth players is vitally important in taking a club forward, insisted that Knox is not the only youngster on Rangers’ radar as he claims that the Gers are scouting the best young talents in Scotland.

“As a club we’ve got to look at the best young talents in the country”, he said in his pre-St. Mirren press conference yesterday.

“We would like to bring them in, that’s what we have to do.

"If you invest in only the first team and not the rest of the club then the gap between the first team and the rest of the club gets ever wider.

“So you have to make sure that you invest in all areas appropriately.

“So our job must be not only add Matthew Knox types, our job must be to get the best young talents across the country and we are looking at all the age groups.”

Knox made his first start for Livingston in the 1-0 win over Rangers in a league fixture at the Toni Macaroni Arena last Tuesday.
