Tim Sherwood feels that Sunderland may benefit from having to play Chelsea next weekend, as he thinks the Blues might "have their slippers on".

Sunderland scored a late penalty away at Stoke City to salvage a draw, however it was not enough to prevent the Black Cats dropping into the relegation zone in the Premier League given Newcastle United's win over Crystal Palace.

The Black Cats have three games left to save their Premier League status and boss Sam Allardyce will be looking to spring a surprise when his side host Chelsea at the Stadium of Light next weekend.

Sherwood feels that Chelsea, who have little to play for, will give their all against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night, but then take their foot off the gas, especially with Euro 2016 looming on the horizon.

"A lot of their players will be thinking about the Euros and they won't want to get hurt", Sherwood said on Sky Sports 1 after Arsenal's win over Norwich City.
