Louis van Gaal insists he will be at Manchester United next season despite fierce speculation about his future at the club.

The Dutchman has increasingly been tipped to lose his job at Old Trafford in the summer following an inconsistent campaign for the Red Devils which sees them battling for a top four finish heading into the final stretch of the season.

Manchester United failed in the Champions League, while they were then knocked out of the Europa League by fierce rivals Liverpool. And the Red Devils came up short in the League Cup.

But Van Gaal, who has led his side into the FA Cup final, is convinced he will still be in charge of the club next season, despite Jose Mourinho being linked with succeeding him.

"Next year you will see me again", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"We always knew that the process would take three years. I wanted to sign only for two years. The club wanted me to sign for three years, not me", Van Gaal explained.

"Every week for six months I have been 'sacked' – and yet I am still here. But this has happened to me at every club I have been at."

Van Gaal took over at Manchester United in the summer of 2014 after leading the Netherlands in the World Cup. He put pen to paper on a three-year deal to keep him at the club until 2017.
