Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal feels his team deserved more than a 1-1 draw from ‘one of the best matches of this season’ against Leicester earlier today.

Anthony Martial gave the Red Devils the lead early in the game and Kasper Schmeichel pulled off a fantastic save a few minutes later from a Jesse Lingard shot; it proved to be crucial as Wes Morgan scored the equaliser for the away side when he outmuscled Marcos Rojo and reached Danny Drinkwater’s free-kick with his head in the first half.

While both sides created a few more opportunities, the scores remained at 1-1 and Leicester’s title winning party has been delayed until at least tomorrow, where Tottenham will now have to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to keep the race alive.

Van Gaal believes it was one of the best matches of the season, and feels they could have got more than a point had his team converted their opportunities. He also pointed out that his men could have done a lot better with the final ball.

The Manchester United manager told MUTV: “We deserved more, we were the better team but we didn’t score.

“I think we played one of the best matches of this season and it was significant that the fans were applauding a draw.

"Normally they are not applauding a draw but they were applauding because this was an exciting game.

“They were very well organised I think, and nevertheless we have created a lot of chances in the first half but also in the second half. But you have to finish and the last pass has to be better.

“Then also with the set-plays, we knew in advance that it is very difficult to stop them and we had to stop them from those set-plays.

"But you have seen a very good team and that is why the fans are applauding because it was a great match.”
