Rangers manager Mark Warburton admits that he was pleased with the performance of his side earlier today despite St. Mirren scoring a late equaliser to earn a point.

The Gers were a little slack in the first half and were punished for their lackadaisical performance when Calum Gallagher gave St. Mirren the lead in the 40th minute, as Warburton’s men went into half time trailing.

Rangers fought back hard in the second half and gave a much better account of themselves with some incisive football. Veteran striker Kenny Miller scored the equaliser in the 54th minute, and the away side felt that they had the game won when Jason Holt scored in the 88th minute to give the lead to the Gers.

However, St. Mirren snatched a point via a 92nd minute equalising goal from substitute Lewis Morgan to send the home fans into delirium and break Rangers’ hearts.

Warburton admits that dropping points is never pleasing but he feels his side played much better football in the second half on an uneven pitch at the Paisley 2021 Stadium.

When asked how he felt after throwing away a win due to a late equaliser, the Englishman told Rangers TV: “You never like to drop points but [I was] very pleased in the second half and we dominated the football.

“It’s a difficult surface, you may not see it in the cameras, but it’s hard, wobbly and hard to control, but in the second half we did well.

“We had forward runners, we had chances, we hit the woodwork etc. So we are really pleased but obviously it done us a little bit when they got the 92nd minute equaliser.”

While Rangers won the Scottish Championship and are in the Scottish Cup final, they failed to win any of their last four league games.
