Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts is quietly confident that his side can get a win at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on Monday night, for the first time in more than quarter-of-a-century.

With Leicester City getting a point at Old Trafford earlier today, Tottenham have to beat Chelsea in west London tomorrow to keep the title race alive, and former Spurs defender Roberts feels that they can get the three points.

Tottenham have not won at Stamford Bridge since 1990, but the Spurs legend feels given how the season has gone for both clubs, his side should have nothing to fear going into the Chelsea game.

The 56-year-old told Spurs TV: “Every time you go there, it is a difficult game.

“This time, they have had a bad season but are playing well at the moment and we shouldn’t be frightened about going there.”

Roberts is confident that Spurs could get a comfortable win at Chelsea if they can remain sturdy at the back.

He believes though if the home side get the first goal, then Tottenham might find themselves in a spot of bother as they don’t want to be chasing the game at Stamford Bridge.

“It will be difficult but if we can keep a clean sheet we can win 2-0 or 3-0; I think we have the people in the team to score goals, but we have to score first.

“If they get a goal and we are chasing, then it could be a difficult night but I actually think we have the best defence, got nothing to fear over there, so I’ll go for 2-0.”
