Mark Warburton has insisted that Kenny Miller’s age will not be a problem for Rangers as long as the striker keeps putting in impressive displays.

The 36-year-old, who is in his third spell at Rangers, managed to find the back of the net in the 2-2 draw with St. Mirren in a Scottish Championship fixture on Sunday.

Miller has been in tremendous form in the present campaign, with the forward scoring 20 goals and providing 12 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.

His goals and assists played a key part in helping Rangers win the league title and the Challenge Cup, in addition to reaching the final of the Scottish Cup.

Current Rangers assistant manager David Weir retired at the age of 41, and hence Warburton thinks Miller still has a lot left in his tank.

“David Weir played until he was forty-one, so Kenny has a good five years left to go on that basis”, the manager told the club’s official site.

“Kenny works hard every day and we say that a lot, perhaps some people ignore that. He’s the best that he can be every single day, so you have to respect him for that.

“The way that he looks after himself, his diet, his rest and recovery, his hydration, he is a top class professional.

“At thirty-six years of age he looks young and he looks fit, so I am delighted for Kenny. As long as he can keep playing at that level, we’ll have no problem at all.”

Miller, whose present contract with Rangers runs until the summer of 2017, counts Hibernian, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Celtic, Derby County and Bursaspor amongst his former employers.

He also scored 18 goals in 70 games for Scotland between 2001 and 2013.
