Toby Alderweireld has explained that Tottenham Hotspur are confident but not arrogant about beating Chelsea in a Premier League game tonight.

Tottenham’s title charge received a huge blow last week following their 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

But with leaders Leicester City drawing 1-1 with Manchester United yesterday, Spurs still have a slim chance of winning the Premier League title.

However, Tottenham have to win their last three games to have any chance of winning the league, starting with tonight’s fixture at Stamford Bridge, a ground where they have not won since 1990.

And Alderweireld, who admitted that wining the Premier League title is now difficult, insisted that playing Champions League football next season is a step in the right direction for the White Hart Lane outfit.

“It’s a massive game. We have to believe we can win there”, the Belgian told the club’s official site.

“We have the team, we’ve had a great season and let’s go and show it.

“This is about confidence, not arrogance. Our fans will be there and they want to see us win, hopefully we can give it to them.

“We want to give them the title, okay, now that’s difficult, but if we give them the Champions League next season it’s the right step.”

Tottenham, who have the best defensive record in the Premier League in the current campaign, will play Southampton and Newcastle United in their last two games of the season respectively.
