Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend has admitted that he is gutted after Spurs’ title charge was ended with a 2-2 draw against Chelsea last night.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team, who needed a victory at Stamford Bridge to keep their slim chances of winning the Premier League title alive, headed into the half-time break 2-0 up, courtesy of goals from Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.
But Gary Cahill reduced the arrears in the 58th minute before a late Eden Hazard goal made it 2-2, which enabled Leicester City to win the Premier League with two games to spare.
And Townsend, who joined Newcastle United from Tottenham on a five-and-half-year contract during the January transfer window, conceded that he felt sad for his former team-mates.
However, the 24-year-old was quick to laud Leicester for the title triumph as he feels the Foxes achieved “the greatest sporting achievement of all time.”

“Gutted for the Spurs boys but you have to respect what Leicester have just done… Gotta be THE greatest sporting achievements of all time!” he tweeted.
Tottenham remain second in the standings with 70 points from 36 games, seven adrift of Leicester.
