Juventus have lodged an enquiry over signing Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi, a player who has also recently been linked with Liverpool.

The Bianconeri are firm fans of the Germany international and, according to Turin-based daily Tuttosport, in the middle of talks over Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes, have brought up Mustafi.

The defender has experience of Italian football, having turned out for Sampdoria between 2012 and 2014, prior to joining Valencia.

Juventus are now eyeing potentially taking the 24-year-old back to Serie A, though it remains to be seen whether Valencia will be willing to deal and for what price. It has been suggested Juventus could insert Roberto Pereyra into a potential deal for both Mustafi and Gomes.

Mustafi has also been linked with Liverpool, as the Reds German boss Jurgen Klopp eyes strengthening his defence in the summer transfer window.

Klopp was recently open about his view that teams are built from the back and he has already secured the services of Schalke centre-back Joel Matip.

Mustafi had an underwhelming spell at Everton earlier in his career after joining the Merseyside club from Hamburg.

He only managed a single appearance for the Toffees during his three years at Goodison Park.
