Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy is delighted at the Blues stopping Tottenham Hotspur's title challenge on Monday night and believes it is another proud moment to go alongside putting a spanner in the works of Liverpool's title push in 2014.

Chelsea won at Anfield in the closing stages of the 2013/14 campaign, a defeat which proved to be crucial in Liverpool losing the league title to Manchester City. The Blues won 2-0 against the Reds, with goals from Demba Ba and Willian.

Under Jose Mourinho, Chelsea won the title last season and last night had another say in the destination of the crown as they held Spurs to a 2-2 draw, ensuring the north London side cannot catch Leicester City at the top of the table.

Chelsea's draw also means Spurs have still yet to win at Stamford Bridge since 1990, something Cundy is also happy about.

Cundy, delighted to have added Spurs to Liverpool in the teams the Blues stopped, said on Chelsea TV after the match: "What a game. The best game I've seen here for a number of years. A proper London derby.

"I think the referee got a number of things right, I think he got a number of things wrong, but a brilliant, brilliant game to watch.

"That run of 26 years [Spurs haven’t won at Stamford Bridge] now rolls into 27.

"We've taken the title off them like we did with Liverpool a couple of seasons ago", the former Chelsea defender added.

Chelsea have taken consolation in the fact that in a dismal campaign, which saw Mourinho sacked earlier this term, they have prevented London rivals Spurs from succeeding them as champions. Mauricio Pochettino's men remain on course to finish second though.

Liverpool meanwhile have slumped since finishing second in 2014 and will not finish in the top four this term.

The Reds are now pinning their hopes of winning the Europa League to qualify for next term's Champions League.
